Recently, Phase II of the Kamativi Lithium Mine project in Zimbabwe, constructed by the Dalian branch of China Railway No.9 Group, fully started up production.
The Phase II of the project, which has been put into production this time, started construction in August 2023. After being put into production, it, together with Phase I of the project, has jointly formed a production capacity of processing 2.3 million tons of lithium ore and producing 350,000 tons of lithium concentrate annually.
As the scale of lithium concentrate production continues to expand, the project is expected to process 3.3 million tons of lithium ore annually and produce nearly 500,000 tons of lithium concentrate by 2025, significantly enhancing Zimbabwe’s competitiveness and market position in lithium products.
During construction, the team overcame challenges such as extreme heat and drought in the dry season, heavy rainfall in the wet season, tight schedules, material shortages, and language barriers. By proactively managing the timeline, coordinating resources, and showing care and respect for local workers’ cultural and religious needs, the team successfully delivered the project on time, earning high praise from the client.
