Congo (DRC) Mwene-Ditu-Kaniama Road Drainage Ditch Construction Completed
Source: Date:2024年12月18日

On November 14 local time, China Railway Sixth Group completed the construction of 8,420 meters of drainage ditches for Phase 1 of the Mwene-Ditu to Kaniama road rehabilitation project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

With the rainy season approaching in the DRC and rainfall increasing significantly, ensuring smooth drainage across the entire project line became an urgent priority. To mitigate risks such as flooding causing traffic paralysis and structural damage to completed sections, the project team responded proactively by making scientific arrangements, enhancing coordination, preparing emergency plans for adverse weather, and adjusting construction methods as necessary. They utilized efficient strategies like overlapping tasks to maximize productive working hours.

During construction, the project team strictly adhered to building standards, strengthened site management and supervision, and promptly addressed issues. The completion of the drainage ditches provides strong support for advancing the project’s overall progress.

The Mwene-Ditu to Kaniama road rehabilitation project is a 4.3-kilometer renovation of an existing road. It encompasses earthworks, culvert construction, drainage systems, roadbed and pavement works, and signaling installations. Post-renovation, the road will feature a double-layer asphalt surface treatment with drainage ditches on both sides.

Upon completion, the project will significantly improve local traffic conditions, provide convenience for residents’ travel, create job opportunities, and contribute to local economic growth and social development.
